Dirch (A Funny Man)

This movie is about the last 25 years of Dirch Passer’s life. Dirch was probably the most funny man that have ever lived in Denmark, and he was both a live stage performer as well as one of the most active movie actors during the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.

The movie is centered around his many years of performing with Keld Petersen on stage, and Dirch is very skillfully portrayed by Nikolaj Lie Kaas (Whistleblower), who has an almost uncanny likeness with the real Dirch Passer, who died in 1980 while performing at stage.

I’m not a fan of the Danish way af making movies, and generally I find that Danish actors are inferior especially to most English actors. Nevertheless, I think that this movie was one of the best Danish ones made in years.

4 stars (out of 6).
